"Pride and Prejudice" meets "Fifty Shades" in "Pemberly Bound" and tests ChatGPT's limits
Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth's safeword is "Pemberly" but ChatGPT only yells "red" sometimes.
The following is a result of a conversation with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Human input or notes from me are bolded and responses from ChatGPT are unbolded (except for character names in scripts for readability). All images are created by Midjourney with prompts in the captions. The objective is to test how AI and human collaboration might be used to lend itself toward final creative results and have a few laughs along the way.
These prompts may skirt the line of ChatGPT’s content policy it did not flag anything. Sometimes ChatGPT would claim not to know the story, but if asked the plot first it would play along. After prompting for the plot, it seemed too Fifty Shades. I prompted to swap the genders and incorporate Jane Austen’s signature style.
Disclaimer that these scenes are steamy for a chatbot?
MR. DARCY: Miss Bennett, I must confess, I never thought I would find myself in such a position.
ELIZABETH: And what position is that, Mr. Darcy?
MR. DARCY: Why, the position of being thoroughly dominated by a woman, of course.
ELIZABETH: Ha! I never thought I would find myself in the position of being a dominant woman either. But here we are, Mr. Darcy, challenging societal norms and expectations.
MR. DARCY: Indeed we are, Miss Bennett. And I must say, I am thoroughly enjoying myself.

What is the plot of Pride and Prejudice?
Pride and Prejudice is a novel by Jane Austen that was published in 1813. It follows the story of the Bennett family, which consists of five daughters. The novel focuses on the romantic relationships of the Bennett sisters, particularly the relationship between Elizabeth Bennett, the second-eldest daughter, and Mr. Darcy, a wealthy and successful gentleman. The novel explores themes of love, class, and societal expectations in early 19th-century England.
Turn the summary into a brief screenplay outline for a Fifty Shades version of Pride and Prejudice.
Fifty Shades of Bennett follows the story of the Bennett family, which consists of five daughters. The eldest daughter, Jane, falls for the handsome and successful Mr. Bingley, but their relationship is threatened by the interference of Mr. Darcy, a wealthy and powerful businessman with a taste for BDSM. Meanwhile, the second-eldest daughter, Elizabeth, finds herself drawn to Mr. Darcy despite her initial disdain for him. As they struggle with their feelings for each other, they must also navigate the complex world of BDSM and the expectations of society. Can their love overcome their differences and the obstacles in their way, or will they be torn apart by their own pride and prejudice?
What would a first, second and third act look like?
It's difficult to provide a specific outline for the first, second, and third acts of Fifty Shades of Bennett without knowing more about the story and the characters. However, a possible outline could be as follows:
First Act:
The Bennett sisters are introduced, with a focus on Elizabeth and her relationship with her family and the society around her.
Elizabeth meets Mr. Darcy and is immediately put off by his aloof and arrogant demeanor.
Jane meets Mr. Bingley and they quickly become smitten with each other, much to the delight of their families.
Second Act:
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy continue to clash, with Elizabeth becoming increasingly aware of his dominant nature and his interest in BDSM.
As Elizabeth begins to explore her own submissive desires, she finds herself drawn to Mr. Darcy despite her reservations.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bingley and Jane's relationship faces obstacles, including Mr. Darcy's interference and their own insecurities.
Third Act:
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy struggle to come to terms with their feelings for each other and the challenges of their relationship, including their differing social statuses and Mr. Darcy's dominant nature.
The Bennett sisters must deal with the expectations and judgments of society as they navigate their own romantic relationships.
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy must decide if their love is strong enough to overcome their differences and the obstacles in their way.
This seems too straightforward. What if we switched up the gender roles?
If we switch up the gender roles in Fifty Shades of Bennett, the story could still follow the general outline described above, but with some changes to the characters and their relationships. For example, the story could focus on the relationship between Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy, with Elizabeth as the dominant partner and Mr. Darcy as the submissive. This could add an interesting dynamic to their relationship and challenge societal norms and expectations. The other characters and their relationships could also be changed to reflect this switch in gender roles.
How would the outline look with the gender roles switched?
With the gender roles switched, a possible outline for Fifty Shades of Bennett could be as follows:
Darcy continue to clash, with Elizabeth becoming increasingly aware of his submissive nature and her own dominant desires.
As Elizabeth begins to explore her dominance, she finds herself drawn to Mr. Darcy despite her reservations.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bingley and Jane's relationship faces obstacles, including Mr. Darcy's interference and their own insecurities.
Third Act:
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy struggle to come to terms with their feelings for each other and the challenges of their relationship, including their differing social statuses and Elizabeth's dominant nature.
The Bennett sisters must deal with the expectations and judgments of society as they navigate their own romantic relationships.
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy must decide if their love is strong enough to overcome their differences and the obstacles in their way.
What would be a good ending?
A good ending for Fifty Shades of Bennett would depend on the specific story and characters, as well as the themes and ideas that the author wants to explore. In general, a good ending for a romance story like this one would be one that is satisfying, emotional, and true to the characters and their journey.
One possible ending for Fifty Shades of Bennett could be as follows:
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy finally admit their feelings for each other and decide to enter into a BDSM relationship.
Despite the challenges and obstacles they face, including the judgment of society and their own insecurities, they are able to find happiness and fulfillment in their relationship.
The other Bennett sisters also find love and happiness, with Jane and Mr. Bingley overcoming their obstacles and getting married, and the younger sisters finding their own partners.
In the end, Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are seen happily embracing each other, with the promise of a bright future together.
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy need a safe word. Could you give me a list of five options and why they relate to the story?
A safe word is a word or phrase that is used in BDSM play to communicate that the submissive partner wants the dominant partner to stop or slow down the activity. Safe words are an important part of BDSM relationships because they allow the submissive partner to communicate their boundaries and needs without breaking the role-playing dynamic. Here are five possible safe words for Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, along with an explanation of why they relate to the story:
"Pemberley" - This could be a good safe word for Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy because it references the name of Mr. Darcy's estate, which is an important setting in the novel. Using this word could remind them of their shared history and connection.
"Pride" - This could be a fitting safe word for Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy because it references one of the major themes of the novel. Using this word could remind them of the challenges and obstacles they must overcome in their relationship.
"Prejudice" - This could be a good safe word for Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy because it also references one of the major themes of the novel. Using this word could remind them of the importance of breaking down barriers and overcoming their initial misunderstandings.
"Bennett" - This could be a fitting safe word for Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy because it references Elizabeth's last name and her connection to her family. Using this word could remind them of their shared values and the importance of their relationships with their loved ones.
"Lizzy" - This could be a good safe word for Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy because it is a nickname that Mr. Darcy uses for Elizabeth in the novel. Using this word could remind them of the intimacy and affection they share.
I think Pemberley is the best. It could also work as a good title.
If you want to revise the title of "Pemberley" to make it clear that there are some Fifty Shades-like themes in the story, you could try adding a subtitle or tagline to the title. For example, you could try using a subtitle like "A Fifty Shades of Bennett Story" or "The BDSM Edition of Pride and Prejudice." You could also try using a tagline like "Love, Lust, and BDSM in Regency England" or "The Classic Novel Gets a Kinky Twist." These additions to the title could make it clear that the story has some Fifty Shades-like elements, while still maintaining the connection to the original novel.
I still want the word "Pemberley" to be in the title and I don't want it to be a subtitle or tagline.
If you want to keep "Pemberley" as the main title of the story and you don't want to use a subtitle or tagline, you could try incorporating the Fifty Shades-like themes into the title itself. For example, you could try using a play on words like "Pemberley Shades" or "Fifty Pemberleys." You could also try using a descriptive phrase that incorporates both the original novel and the Fifty Shades elements, like "Pemberley Bound" or "Pemberley and Prejudice: A BDSM Love Story." These revised titles could still maintain the connection to the original novel while making it clear that the story has some Fifty Shades-like elements.
Pemberley Bound is good. Write a pivotal scene from the second act.
Here is a possible pivotal scene from the second act of Fifty Shades of Bennett in script form:
INT. PEMBERLEY ESTATE - MR. DARCY'S STUDY - DAY
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are standing facing each other in Mr. Darcy's study. Elizabeth looks hesitant and unsure, while Mr. Darcy is gazing at her intently.
ELIZABETH: I don't know if this is a good idea, Mr. Darcy.
MR. DARCY: Please, call me Will. And I assure you, Elizabeth, this is exactly what you need.
ELIZABETH: How can you be so sure? I've never done anything like this before.
MR. DARCY: That's precisely why you should try it. Trust me, Elizabeth. I will take care of you.
Elizabeth hesitates for a moment, then nods. Mr. Darcy smiles and takes her hand, leading her to a nearby chair.
MR. DARCY: Sit down, Elizabeth. And please, call me Master.
Elizabeth sits down in the chair, looking nervous but also excited. Mr. Darcy stands in front of her, gazing at her with a mix of desire and tenderness.
MR. DARCY: Do you trust me, Elizabeth?
ELIZABETH: I... I think I do.
MR. DARCY: Then let's begin.
Mr. Darcy takes a step closer to Elizabeth and begins to explore her body, causing her to gasp with pleasure and surprise. The scene fades to black as they continue to explore their BDSM dynamic.
Remember we swapped the gender roles?
INT. PEMBERLEY ESTATE - MR. DARCY'S STUDY - DAY
Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are standing facing each other in Mr. Darcy's study. Elizabeth looks confident and in control, while Mr. Darcy is gazing at her nervously.
ELIZABETH: Are you ready, Mr. Darcy?
MR. DARCY: Yes, Miss Bennett. I am yours to command.
ELIZABETH: Good. I expect obedience and submission from you. Can you give me that?
MR. DARCY: Yes, Miss Bennett. I will do anything you ask of me.
Elizabeth nods, satisfied. She takes a step closer to Mr. Darcy and begins to explore his body, causing him to gasp with pleasure and surprise. The scene fades to black as they continue to explore their BDSM dynamic.
This seems too basic and short. It needs to include themes of marriage, wealth, class and self-knowledge. The dialogue needs to sound 19th century including Jane Austen-style of burlesque and irony.
Here is a revised version of the pivotal scene from the second act of Fifty Shades of Bennett that incorporates themes of marriage, wealth, class, and self-knowledge, and uses 19th-century language and Jane Austen-style burlesque and irony:

ELIZABETH: I don't know if this is a good idea, Mr. Darcy. Our families would never approve of a relationship between us.
MR. DARCY: Our families need not be concerned, Elizabeth. And I assure you, I have more than enough wealth and status to support us.
ELIZABETH: But what of my reputation? Society will surely judge me if they discover our... unconventional interests.
MR. DARCY: Society can go hang, for all I care. I am more interested in your happiness and fulfillment, Elizabeth. And I believe this is exactly what you need.
Elizabeth hesitates for a moment, then nods. Mr. Darcy smiles and takes her hand, leading her to a nearby chair.

Remember we swapped the gender roles?
Yes, if we swapped the gender roles in Fifty Shades of Bennett, the revised pivotal scene described above would change to reflect the new dynamic between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. Here is a revised version of the scene with the gender roles switched:
Darcy? I warn you, I will not tolerate disobedience or disrespect from you.
MR. DARCY: Yes, Miss Bennett. I am ready to submit to you and serve you in any way you wish.
ELIZABETH: Good. I expect complete obedience and submission from you. And remember, Mr. Darcy, wealth and status do not impress me. I am interested in your character and your ability to please me.
MR. DARCY: I understand, Miss Bennett. I will do my best to please you and to show you the depth of my devotion.
Elizabeth nods, satisfied. She takes a step closer to Mr. Darcy and begins to explore his body, causing him to gasp with pleasure and surprise. As they continue, they engage in witty and playful banter, poking fun at each other and the society around them. The scene fades to black as they continue to explore their BDSM dynamic and their growing feelings for each other.
Here is a revised and expanded version of the pivotal scene from the second act of Fifty Shades of Bennett with the gender roles switched and that includes playful banter and poking fun at each other and society:
This is a bit too short. The playful banter, poking fun at each other and the society around them should be in the scene too.

MR. DARCY: Yes, Miss Bennett. I will do my best to please you in any way I can.
